Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play will receive its world premiere in London’s West End on July 30, 2016.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
So Harry Potter and the Cursed Child came out a few days ago and I loved it. So I’ve got my notes beside me on what I liked about this book and what I thought was eh. To start off the notes I’d say the first thing you’d wanna know before you go into this book is that it is different. So JK Rowling decided to do another Harry Potter story. She actually made a stage play for this that is being performed in the UK. This book is actually the script being printed for the Potter fans who can’t travel to see it and what to know what happened next in the Harry Potter story. Other than that I think that is the number one thing going into this book.
The next thing on my list is to talk about the book. While I liked It, a lot. I would like to think of this book as a separate story in the Harry Potter story. It was still really good and If you feel a bit apprehensive about going into this because you don’t want your favorite series ruined, don’t be. While this wasn’t the best book in the Harry Potter books and shouldn’t be compared to the others and thought of as a separate book I highly enjoyed it.
I can’t say a ton on the whole plot because it’s best to go in not knowing anything but I will say it does involve a Time Turner for anyone who remembers those things in book 3. Keep in mind I will do a spoiler review in the future for all those who have read it and would like to discuss it with me. Anyway let’s get on with the notes.
JK Rowling has confirmed that this is the last story in the Harry Potter stories so you have to read this! While I feel a bit sad about this and would love for it to keep living on forever I think it’s time for this franchise to end. While I think the franchise as a whole will never die because of all of the loyal fans I do think that all good things must come to and end.
Well I didn’t hate anything in this book. While I’m doing exactly what I told you not to do by comparing it to the other 7 books this wasn’t as good as them. IT WAS STILL REALLY GOOD THOUGH! Overall I highly enjoyed this their was so many plot twists and just re-living the moments from the Harry Potter series was really amazing. So go read it, and come back in a few days so we can talk about this in my spoiler review that will be up in a few days.
