REVIEW- Ashoka by: E.K. Johnson

Fans have long wondered what happened to Ahsoka after she left the Jedi Order near the end of the Clone Wars, and before she re-appeared as the mysterious Rebel operative Fulcrum in Rebels. Finally, her story will begin to be told. Following her experiences with the Jedi and the devastation of Order 66, Ahsoka is unsure she can be part of a larger whole ever again. But her desire to fight the evils of the Empire and protect those who need it will lead her right to Bail Organa, and the Rebel Alliance….

FINISHED THIS BOOK! I can know OFFICIALLY say that I’ve read my first Star Wars book, and I LOVED IT!

*Dabs about this accomplishment*

One of the reasons I liked a TON about this book was the character, Ashoka. While she was bland in the show, she was interesting and resourceful in this book. The way the author writes this story is heartbreaking, dramatic, and AMAZING.

The setting was bland, and the ending felt rushed. One of the reasons it felt bland was because the town was Ashoka stayed in for most of the book, wasn’t that interesting. There was nothing engaging or attractive about the landscape, and it didn’t serve its purpose. If it did anything, it detracted from the story and stopped it from achieving greatness too early in the story.

The ending wasn’t satisfying, at all. My reasoning behind this is simple. We spend the WHOLE book trying to get a light-saber to fight the “evil one”, the bad guy shows up, and she kills him with a gun. SERIOUSLY? It didn’t deliver its promises, and that annoyed me, BADDD!

Overall, this wasn’t my favorite read, but it was still pretty good. I’d recommend it for people who’ve seen the Star Wars TV show, or any of the movies. It’s worth your time, and you’ll enjoy every second of it.

My Current TBR Pile #1

Hey guys,

I’ve done it! I’ve posted something every day this WEEK. (Except for Sunday, but I posted 2 posts on Saturday so I’ll count it.)

Today I got this idea for this post from Ellie at

http://www.ontheothersideofreality.org

For those who don’t know, TBR stands for to be read pile. So I thought I’d let you guys in on what I have planned to read for now.

Heartless, by Marissa Meyer. FOR THOSE WHO DON’T KNOW I LOOOOVVVVEEE MARISSA MEYER. To me, she is arguably higher than Brandon Sanderson high (and that’s PRETTY HIGH!) For those who don’t know she is the author of the Lunar Chronicles, which I rated every book a 5/5 stars. So I KNOW IT WILL BE AMAZEBALLS. Right now I’m on page 100 out of something and I expect that I’ll finish it by the end of the week.(We’ll see how that goes though)
Goodreads-Heartless by: Marissa Meyer

I bought this lovely recently! It’s the second in a trilogy involving CRAZINESS. Honestly it’s best to go in blind to this dystopian series, It make the series a WHOLE LOT BETTER when you aren’t aware what’s going to happen to these amazing characters.
Goodreads- Prodigy by: Marie Lu
The Final book I’m planning to read soon is……

The Enchanter Heir by: Cinda Williams Chima! For those who don’t know, I LOVVEE Cinda’s work. Her fantasy books are the bomb dot com! She just has this way with coming up with the most ingenigous ways to incorporate magic into everyday life! I hope to read this after I finish Heartless so be on the look out for a review ASAP!

That’s it! These are the three books I’m going to be reading this week!

I even managed to only put in one gif! NEW RECORD!

Thank’s for reading this post! Let me know in the comments below what you’re planning to read this week! Until next time! Bye READER FAM!

CLOSED-Review+ Giveaway The Fire of Invention by: J. Scott Savage

Age: 10-13

# of pages:

cooltext133089402245467 13-Year old Trenton Coleman lives in what most people would say is a total nightmare. in the cove, (A city that has sealed itself in a mountain) Creativity is bad, and Invention is a swear word. Life is always normal. the government has a strict set of rules for making or building something. It has to be approved and it can’t be new. Until one day Trenton bends the rules to impress a girl named Simoni The government catches him and says he has 2 options. First he be sent to re-Training (Which most people don’t ever act the same when they finish it) Or to go inside one of the coal machines to grab a piece that was messing up the electricity in the Cove. We then follow Trenton as he chose to go inside the machine. He ends up finding a clue to something, Something not approved by the Government. but everything goes downhill from there, Then we meet Kallisa Babbage. the daughter of a “crazy” inventor (oops I swore (;  ) Kallisa’s father, Leo was tampering with a water heater (which is not approved) By the way and made it explode killing everyone in the building. Kallista believe’s that the clue Trenton found was left for her and she needs to continue to find the rest of the clues her father has left behind for her. They then partner up to find all the clues Leo Babbage has left. Did I forget to mention that at almost every clue there was spare parts. But what exactly do they make? Is Leo Babbage really crazy? Is everything what It seems to be? Find out in The Fire of Invention by: J. Scott Savage.

cooltext133089303484155I really liked the characters in this book. My favorite character has got to be Trenton (Main character) Right off the bat you can tell Trenton isn’t someone who follows rules. His personality was just so realistic and human. At the beginning of the book he was a shy/confident guy  what I mean by that is that he was shy on the social side of things but confident in his machines. But by the end of the book he was confident!

cooltext133089343094800 In short, everything!

In long: I loved the story line! The plot was just so rich and the story left you wanting more! This world is just so interesting! I just loved this story! Notice I’m doing a lot of !’s But seriously it was great!, No swearing! (Which is always good in a children’s book)  I’ve never read anything by Savage but now I can see I totally missed out! I seriously read this book in two sittings. Right of the bat Savage just captivates the audience into this irregular world that leaves you hungry for more. I just can’t begin to describe this book, it’s just plain amazing! I am so excited for everyone to read this! If you have a 10-13 year old that likes fantasy this is the book for you! So if you do get it ASAP! This is a must read!

cooltext133089378843909I have to wait for the next book NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!

SYNOPSIS:

Trenton Colman is a creative thirteen-year-old boy with a knack for all things mechanical. But his talents are viewed with suspicion in Cove, a steam-powered city built inside a mountain. In Cove, creativity is a crime and “invention” is a curse word.

Kallista Babbage is a repair technician and daughter of the notorious Leo Babbage, whose father died in an explosion—an event the leaders of Cove point to as an example of the danger of creativity.

Working together, Trenton and Kallista learn that Leo Babbage was developing a secret project before he perished. Following clues he left behind, they begin to assemble a strange machine that is unlikely anything they’ve ever seen before. They soon discover that what they are building may threaten every truth their city is founded on—and quite possibly their very lives.

Game On: An Alien and Space Adventure by: R.E. Rowe

# of pages:  281

Suggested Age: 10-12

Author: R.E. Rowe

Source: ARC/NetGalley

Summary: Jayden Banks was an average 13 year old. That is until his friend’s sister Nora gets kidnapped and he and his friend stumble upon a secret Alien War! Jayden must lead a rebellion of kids to overthrow the evil alien king, Nuk’ana.

Charecters: Well my favorite charecter in this book has got to be Nora. She is the sister of the main charecters friend. This book is very centered on space. (If you couldn’t tell by the title) Nora is a super smart girl. so smart she was taught by an MIT student that had a PHD in Astro Physics  Nora is one of those girls who isn’t a complete nerd but knows a heck a lot about tech!

What I Liked: Well to start of with this I really like the idea for this story. The Imagery was just so vivid! I loved the plot twists! I would highly recommend this to someone who’s kid has his face glued to a tablet! It’s video games in a book! What More could a kid and parent want?

What I didn’t like: Well first off R.E. rowe I think explained the tech overboard. Sometimes I had to check my phone to see what  some of the things were. One example of this is parsecs. This book is classified as children’s fiction. What 10 year old would know what parsecs are? I don’t even know what they are. So unless your an  Astrophysist (In which I doubt most 10 year olds are) I would suggest to include a simpilar term. I also would like some different view points but overall this was an okay book.

Allegiant By: Veronica Roth

# of Pages: 526

Author: Veronica Roth

Summary: This is the third and final book in the Divergent trilogy. Tris and Tobias lead the city to get out of Chicago. While getting out though they meet someone. Someone so important. The creators, the creators of Chicago…

1432764717396

Characters: Well I kind of actually prefered Tobias’s point of view. I loved to listen and learn all about the mysterious Tobias Eaton. I didn’t actually like Tris in the final book. I mean I didn’t not like her but I just enjoyed Tobias’s POV. But I also enjoyed to see Tris developing into this awesome fighting character.

What I liked: I loved learning about the outside of the gate. The ending was to die for. It was beautifully written and I loved the ending but hated it. If you don’t know what happens at the end  pick up this book and read it. It’s not the best book but try to work your way through the writing.
