My Short January Book Haul

Hey guys,

So with the end of the month of January FASTLY approaching. I thought it’d be appropriate to show all of the books that I’ve obtained in the last month. Some of them were late Christmas presents for me, but others are also from my local library. With that set-aside, let’s see what I got THIS MONTH!

Yep! YOU SEE It. I see it. A SIGNED copy of Warcross by Marie Lu..

My reaction upon finding this signed book in the back corner in Target is in the gif below.

For those who don’t know, I was a HUGE fan of Marie Lu’s writing when I first joined book blogging way back in 2015. Since then, I haven’t found anything that she’s written that interests me, until this.

Since I’m trying to keep this short, I’m gonna pull out the old “One Sentence Review” Instead of trying to bore your minds with useless bits of information you will probably never use.

Warcrossย follow a girl, Emika Chen, as she is hired by the head of a virtual reality company to become a bounty hunter tasked with the mission to track down and expose an evil hacker.

So far I’m about 250 pages and enjoying it immensely! So I’d recommend giving this one a read if you liked Ready Player One.

Another book that I bought myself this past month was a HUGE auto-buy author.

For those who aren’t aware, Marissa Meyer, author of this book, penned a series that is in my top 5 favorite series of ALL TIME! Her way with words is really simple and easy to follow, but also entertaining and detailed.

As it is an auto-buy book, I know nothing about it except that it’s been compared to the X-Men and Marvel movies. My reaction when I heard that this was a thing, was priceless. The only thing even semi-relatable to it was the gif below.

An X-Men mashup that meets West Side Story gangs.

Throne of Glass

Ok. FINEEEE. I’ve decided that I’m going to cave in and read this series. My twin friends have been DRILLING me to read this series for the past couple days, and I’ve finally committed.

Girl assassin put in a competition to become the King’s assassin.

That’s it! Those are the books I’ve acquired over the past month. While it is short, I’ve been trying to save my money for book releases later in the month. (SORRY)

Thank’s for reading! I post on Mondays and Fridays so look out for that!

  1. Huhh, are you me?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I’m planning to get these books as soon as i get paid… haven’t read anything from these authors but been eyeing them for ages.

  2. WOAH A SIGNED COPY COOOOOOLLLLLL!!!!!!! I didn’t love it but the world was really cool and I liked the characters so yeah ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, Marissa Meyer is the BOMB and I really should read Renegades!

  3. Yeah! I’m also not thinking it’s going to be a 5 star. ๐Ÿ™ I would definitely read the sequel, but the story isn’t the most original thing either. The world is great, and the characters are amazing, but I also agree that the plot could use a little work. Oh well, hoping it get’s better as I reach the climax of the story.

  4. Oh that’s so awesome you got some books from your favourite authors!! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰ I always love it when a favourite author never disappoints haha. And I NEED to read Warcross. Everyone raves about it so much?!

  5. YAY! I just finished it late last night and a review is coming SOON! While it wasn’t a five-star book, in my opinion, I do believe that it is VERY good in the worldbuilding and character department!

  6. YEAH! It was pretty awesome to find it! I just finished Warcross and thought that it was pretty good. The Legend trilogy is still my favorite, but I would recommend giving this one a go. The ending seemed a bit rushed but other than that it was a great read!

  7. WARCROSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!! READ IT FIRST BECAUSE IT IS SOOOO GOOD!! The world-building is amazing, the characters are awesome and diverse (Hideo is something indeed ), and the game is FAN-TAS-TIC!!!

  8. I AGREE! It was good, it wasn’t was my favorite book out of all the books in the world, but it was pretty decent. I’m a little sad because I wanted it to be amazing, and I just never got into it. Thank’s for commenting!

  9. Yay! I’ve heard really good things about Renegades. Sadly, I didn’t read Throne of Glass when it first came out, still, I haven’t read past the first book, but I intend to do it,I just haven’t gotten around to it! Thank’s for commenting!
