Top 5 books I meant to read this year, but didn’t *sigh*

Hey guys,

With 2018 approaching, I decided to break out of my shell, and finally join the community in making a top ten list as part of Top Ten Tuesday hosted by the Book and bookish.  To be honest, I don’t know if this will be a permanent thing, but if you want it to be, leave a comment and I might consider it. One of my goals this year is to contribute to the community and interact with people so… that’s what I’m doing.

Scythe

Where do I begin? With the second book coming out in a couple days the pressure to read Scythe is almost unbearable. From what I know about this book’s plot, this takes place in a world where death is non-existent.  People can’t die, diseases don’t affect people, and the world lives in a good and happy time. In order to control the population, a certain people called the Scythe’s are tasked with the job to decrease the population in whatever form they deem necessary.

Doesn’t that sound like an interesting story? I JUST got it from the library today and are planning to read this after I finish my other book The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson.

Glass Sword

This is the second book in the Red Queen series/ trilogy/ I don’t know what it is. In this world, if you have silver blood, you have POWERS! If you have red blood, you don’t have powers. Everyone is segregated into blood type and the non-magic users are inferior to the magic users. But, our main character, is (cue the drum roll) a red blood but has POWERS!

To be honest, I had the best intentions of reading this book but got distracted by my Harry Potter re-readathon. Also, hoping to get this done soon.

Furthermore

Light-hearted MG story + Disappearance of a FATHER+ Colors are the MAGIC SYSTEM? While I don’t know a lot, I do know that this has been compared to Alice in Wonderland and I WANT IT!

The Alchemists of Loom

To be honest, I know nothing about this book except that it’s been recommended to me over 4 dozen times in the past year. So, I included the summary below, enjoy!

Summary:
Ari lost everything she once loved when the Five Guilds’ resistance fell to the Dragon King. Now, she uses her unparalleled gift for clockwork machinery in tandem with notoriously unscrupulous morals to contribute to a thriving underground organ market. There isn’t a place on Loom that is secure from the engineer turned thief, and her magical talents are sold to the highest bidder as long as the job defies their Dragon oppressors.

Cvareh would do anything to see his sister usurp the Dragon King and sit on the throne. His family’s house has endured the shame of being the lowest rung in the Dragons’ society for far too long. The Alchemist Guild, down on Loom, may just hold the key to putting his kin in power, if Cvareh can get to them before the Dragon King’s assassins.

When Ari stumbles upon a wounded Cvareh, she sees an opportunity to slaughter an enemy and make a profit off his corpse. But the Dragon sees an opportunity to navigate Loom with the best person to get him where he wants to go.

Renegades

I know everyone, STOP SHAMING ME! *Closes eyes* For those who don’t know, perhaps one of my favorite series of all time, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer was one of my favorite things in 2016. So when I heard Marissa was writing another series compared to The X-men I was ECSTATIC! So here we are in 2018, the book on my shelf, WAITING TO BE READ! Out of all of these books, this is probably the one book that annoys me the most because I haven’t read it yet.

That’s it! Those are my top 5 books I want to read, but can’t find the time to get to them. I’m hoping by the end of the year I’ll have them all read and done, but my reading year was CRAZY and sporadic so I wouldn’t count on it. Thank’s for reading! As always, make sure to comment below and let me know what books you didn’t get around to reading in 2017? A ton? A few? HOW MANY??

Bye!

  1. The complete list of how many books I didn’t get to would fill enough pages to actually BE a book. lol

The Alchemists of Loom was in my post on the same subject, but your other choices are on my TBR as well.

  2. COOL! I’ve wanted to read The Alchemists of Loom for a long time ever since I heard about it on Peruseatopia, but I’ve been too lazy to read anything else besides Harry Potter this past little while. Hoping I can get back into reading more diversely and thinking of picking up this one pretty soon. Thank’s for commenting!

  3. *Shakes head* That’s like asking me to pick my favorite CHILD! But, If I had to choose, it would probably boil down to The Prisoner of Azkaban or The Half-Blood Prince.

  4. Haha, it is hard, isn’t it? I just finished a re-read of Half Blood Prince and didn’t realize how much I missed out since the last time! I really wish the Gaunt family had been featured more heavily in the film.

  5. Haha, same!! The only book on your list that I’ve read is Glass Sword BECAUSE I LOVE THE RED QUEEN series, but I still have to read Scythe and Renegades.

Although, I definitely have too many books to handle right now xD I’m trying to read like 7 books at the same time. BECAUSE LOGIC, OF COURSE, lol

  6. I loved Glass Sword ( I think I read it back in 2015???? SO I REMEMBER NOTHING??) and King’s Cage was good as well. My only problem is a certain character whom I shall not name because I despise him now, but I actually can’t wait to read War Storm.

    🙂
