Alcatraz Smedry is back with a new mission!
The Evil Librarians are still up to their antics and it’s up to Alcatraz Smedry to put a stop to it! This second book will take Alcatraz and company on an exploration of the Library of Alexandria, which — despite Librarian rumors — was never destroyed. It is a mysterious place and everyone knows that it holds dark secrets. Can Alcatraz, with his talent for breaking things, break into this secret world? Or will the Evil Librarians once again prevail?
Well first off this is a second book in a series. If you have not read this series nor book one I highly suggest this series! This is my favorite series this year! Notice the this year part? Anyways I feel like book one (which if you have not read my review for you can go to it with the link at the end of this post) was more of a world building type book. Book two we’ve sort of come to accept the facts and magic and just learn to love these characters. Sanderson just does it so well making me feel emotionally attached to all of these characters, even the new one’s who were introduced in this book I would hate to see them get hurt. My favorite character through this book was Australia, she’s a new girl being introduced in this book and is just always so calm but was so (not to be mean) dumb. I mean her character was brilliant and made me laughed but her IQ points were a little down! (:
Man can we just take a minute and appreciate on the back of the dust jacket there is a map. Almost any Sanderson book I’ve ever read always get’s a map. Coincidence? I think not! Anyway I loved this band of characters. Instantly I was ready for more due to the climax of number one, Alcatraz vs the Evil Librarians. I was not disappointed, this book made me smile and just laugh a little. So in short terms of describing this book it is…
Basically a bunch of new as well as old characters with the most ridiculous powers trying to use them in ways you won’t normally think up.
The action in this book was spot on as well as the pacing. I love the kid friendly aspect to it as well as it is open to anyone! I really liked the magic system (What Sanderson book have I not read that doesn’t have an enticing magic system) While his other works are more serious and amazing, this was more laid back and meant for a younger audience, I think any kid from 9+ should really read this series, I went in not expecting much and went out by loving it!
I can’t really think of anything. I was blown away by how much better this book was then the first one! I can already tell this will be on my list of favorites of 2016, it’s that good!
Rating: 5/5 Stars!
